Midwest Borzoi Club picnic, conformation match, lure coursing

Weather was ideal for the second annual MBC picnic. There was good turnout of MBC members for this event held at a county park in northwestern Indiana. There was an estimated 20 non-MBC members who attended. It was good to see so many new young people with their borzoi, interested in trying conformation showing and lure coursing. The day started with picking up the firework debris off the coursing field, so none of the dogs would get hurt. Thank you to all the people who helped. We then held a coursing practice, followed by 15 entries for the AKC Junior Courser test and Qualified Courser test. The test judge was Denise Scanlan, lure operator Anne Midgarden, test secretary Amy Sikula, with Nancy Reimer, Adrienne Hopple, Diana Darling and Kristen Suhrenbrock helping as huntmaster and assisting the new people with how to put on a slip collar and release their dog.

Our BCOA regional 6 governor, Kim Janek gave a
talk on joining BCOA and MBC. A pot-luck picnic lunch was enjoyed by the people and there were treats for the dogs. Thanks to the people who picked up the equipment on the field
